Yes, this blog is about 25 hours late, but at least it's posted. So, I was looking at Yahoo headliners and there were two headlines about Fidel Castro. The first I noticed had to do with a confused, leery, and somewhat lost country of Cuba with no idea of what to do without Castro leading them. The one I noticed after that referred to his attacks against the presidential candidates three days after resigning from power. I don't remember discussing the fact that Castro stepped down in the first place in any of my classes. Considering that this is a major political figure leaving his leadership, I don't remember ever seeing the news about his official resignation or whatever.
Personally, I agree that he would not have completely left. I think he may still have three or four hooks into the actual government, besides remaining as head of the party. A man is not in power for forty or so years and then just up and leave completely.
